Dr Sylvia X Pan

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Virtual Reality at Goldsmiths, University of London. I am the programme lead of MA/MSc in Virtual and Augmented Reality at Goldsmiths Computing.

Previously I was at University College London (UCL) for 11 years: working as a research fellow at the Hamilton Lab at Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, and also the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics group, Computer Science, where I remain a Honorary Research Fellow. I also received my PhD in Virtual Reality in 2009, at UCL, with Professor Mel Slater. It was funded by EPSRC and the Rabin Ezra Scholarship. I have an MSc in Vision, Imaging, and Virtual Environments (VIVE) from UCL .

I moved to London in 2004 from Beijing where I grew up. I have an BEng in Computer Science from Beihang University, and attended Beijing Jingshan School and Beijing No.4 High School.

** I've just hosted a panel on "Virtual Social Interaction" at IEEE VR 2017 (L.A., USA), with Dr Antonia Hamilton, Prof Anthony Steed, Dr Laura Fademrecht, Prof Jonathan Gratch, and Dr Marco Gillies. It was an amazing experience discussing my area with the experts and a group of very enthusiastic audience!
